SoundBoard 2.4 released
As promised, SoundBoard 2.4 is now available. It contains all the features mentioned in yesterday's post, with one addition - SoundBoard now has an actual installer. (No more mucking around with .zip files!) You can now install and uninstall SoundBoard just like any other program, and you'll get shortcuts in your Start menu and/or on your desktop.
If you have already purchased SoundBoard, version 2.4 is available on the Software page of your Xnapid.com account.
Otherwise, please try the trial version!
Please remember, SoundBoard 2.4 requires the .NET Framework 4, which was released earlier this week, so you will want to make sure you run Windows Update to get it installed if you have not done so already.
Upcoming changes for SoundBoard 2.4
I just thought I'd give an update on the next release of SoundBoard:
- 1-9 and 0 on the number pad now work the same as the normal 1-9 and 0 buttons.
- SoundBoard now loads the last file you had open when you start the program again.
- SoundBoard now tracks whether you have unsaved changes, and prompts you to save before quitting or creating a new board if you haven't saved.
- SoundBoard 2.4 requires the .NET Framework version 4, which was recently released. You can download .NET 4 from Windows Update.
I've spent several hours trying to figure out a way to make SoundBoard behave better when Windows' font size is set to larger than normal, but thus far I have been unsuccessful. (Sorry, Julie!) I will keep looking, but it doesn't look like a fix will make it into this release.
Before I post the update, though, I thought I'd ask if anyone has any other feature requests. If so, please comment on this post, or send an e-mail to soundboard@xnapid.com, and I'll see what I can do!
SoundBoard 2.3 released
We've released SoundBoard 2.3!
2.3's biggest new feature is that there are now hotkeys for playing sounds and changing pages. They are as follows:
- 1-9 and 0 play sounds 1-9 and 10, respectively.
- Page Up and Page Down move to the previous and next page, respectively.
- Backspace stops (not pauses) all sounds.
A side effect of this change is that the page title is no longer a freeform textbox; instead, you need to right-click the title and choose "Rename" to rename the page. Feel free to leave comments about this change on this post or on SoundBoard's product page.
If you have already purchased SoundBoard, you can download 2.3 for free from your account's Software page. If not, please try the evaluation version!
Soft82 award
SoundBoard 2.2 has been given soft82.com's "5 Stars Award" for being "excellent and above average in [its] category" (according to the e-mail they sent me about it).
I can't complain about free advertising, even if their product page for SoundBoard is shamelessly copied-and-pasted from mine (minus a few letters and words), and I may as well put their award up. (Edit: I would, but their award is geared toward sites with a white background... so it won't be put up until I change over to WordPress.)
I should note, they either give "no award" or a "5 Stars Award"; there's no in between from them. However, some browsing through their categories showed that most products don't have the award, so it seems at least that they're serious about it.
Anyway, you can check out Soft82's page on SoundBoard here if you're desperately curious:
SoundBoard 2.2 released
I've updated SoundBoard to fix a glaring bug regarding page titles not saving when the page is changed. Anyone who has already purchased SoundBoard can upgrade to 2.2 by logging in to their Xnapid.com account and clicking the "My Software" link; SoundBoard 2.2 will show up in the list as a free upgrade.
I also wanted to thank those users who have reported bugs or offered suggestions to improve SoundBoard. I'll try to think of a way to reward you
